Urchfont car dealer John Wildman was jailed for 20 months at Winchester Crown Court yesterday after admitting 18 counts of fraud.

The court heard that Wildman, 67, from Market Lavington, signed credit agreements with finance companies and then sold the vehicles to unsuspecting members of the public who had no idea there was money owing on the cars they bought.

He admitted 18 counts of fraud at an earlier hearing on January 9 and sentence was adjourned until yesterday.

His 37-year-old son Jason had pleaded guilty to six charges jointly with his father in connection with dishonestly gaining credit.

He was sentenced to ten months' custody, suspended for 12 months and was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the community.

The two men shook hands in the dock before John Wildman was taken down to the cells.
