Sainsbury's has dismissed concerns that negative comments it receives about its proposed development in Malmesbury are not being passed to Wiltshire Council.
Only 14 comment cards were received by Wiltshire Council out of the 300 people who attended an information day – all of which backed the store.
Fears were expressed that Sainsbury’s had failed to forward the negative comments, but JBP, a PR company employed by the store, argued the cards were sent by individuals, not Sainsbury’s.
Nicola Beech, from JBP, said: “It’s not the case that Sainsbury’s collected the cards in. We haven’t sent any out whatsoever.”
Concerns were also raised whether negative comments submitted on the Sainsbury’s website are being forwarded to Wiltshire Council.
However, a test was conducted by Brian Taylor, area development manager at Wiltshire Council, who used the Sainsbury’s planning website, to send a blank message which was then received by Wiltshire Council’s planning portal, confirming the service worked.
