Spring is in the air, and with the early arrival of many flowers Great Chalfield Manor, near Melksham, is be opening its gates on Sunday, from 2-4pm, for the annual Snowdrop Day in aid of Dorothy House Hospice Care.
The grounds of the National Trust Jacobean manor house are carpeted with snowdrops, guaranteed to lift the spirits as the days begin to lengthen.
As well as admiring the gardens you can enjoy tea and home-made cakes will be served in the barn. Admission is £4, with all proceeds going to help provide care for the 1,500 patients, and their families, looked after by the hospice every year.
Great Chalfield is the first event in the Dorothy House open gardens calendar; if you would like to open your garden – however large or small – for the hospice in 2012, call the fundraising team on 01225 721480.
