Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was robbed as she walked her dog along a footpath in Corsham between Jargon court and Corsham Comprehensive school on Friday at about 2.30pm A police spokesman said: “An elderly lady was walking her dog along the path when a man stopped her and distracted her before removing her handbag and running off towards Jargon Court.
”The offender was described as a white male, about 20 years of age, 6ft tall and on average build and he was wearing a navy coloured coat with the hood up, khaki trousers and blue trainers."
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man of that description to either contact Chippenham police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where information can be left, in confidence if preferred.
No details have been given of the age of the victim.
