A care home might not seem the most likely venue for a wedding reception, but for care worker Adriana Kurti, involving all the residents of the home in her big day was exactly what she wanted.

Mrs Kurti, née Hysenllari, is originally from Albania and, because most of her family and friends live in her home country, she decided to involve the residents of Romney House, in Westwood Road, Trowbridge, where she has worked since 2007, in her celebrations.

Residents were treated to Albanian dancing, a live band, food and drinks in the hot sunshine on Saturday after Mrs Kurti, 40, and her husband Fatmir returned from Trowbridge register office.

They had a short honeymoon in London this week.

Care home manager Nicola Fairclough said: “It was a nice opportunity for the residents because it is not often that they get to go to wedding receptions. She sees us as family so everyone made the most of the day.

“They couldn’t have asked for better weather either – the residents were sat outside drinking sherry and having a wonderful time.”
