A MAN who is accused of raping a woman who he then turned into a prostitute is to face trial.
Kaldip Bansal is also said to have tried to bribe a witness in the rape allegation to stop them giving evidence.
The 44-year-old is first alleged to have raped the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, on Sunday December 6, 2009.
Almost a year later, in October 2010, it is alleged he again raped her and during the same period made her become a prostitute for gain for himself.
In August last year he is said to have assaulted her, and then on Thursday, February 3, this year he is accused of trying to bribe a witness.
Bansal, of Bodium Drive, Toothill, denied two counts of rape, one common assault, causing or inciting prostitution for gain and perverting the course of justice. Recorder Michael Parroy QC adjourned the case to Monday, September 3, when he is to face trial on the matters.
He released him on conditional bail ordering him to live and sleep at his home address, not contact witnesses and surrender his passport.
