Devizes MP welcomes new information service for parents

Claire Perry, MP for the Devizes Constituency, has welcomed a new information service which will provide advice to parents throughout pregnancy and the early years of a child’s life.

This digital service for parents-to-be was part of a number of announcements made by the Government this week which looked to support parents. These included:  A commitment to improving maternity care by ensuring each expectant mother has one named midwife who will oversee their care during pregnancy.

 Training health visitors to identify and provide support women with post natal depression.

 Trialling the use of parenting classes and subsidised relationship support sessions to see what extra support could be provided to expectant and new parents.

Mrs Perry said: “This new information service will provide great support for mums and dads to be around the constituency. This service will mean that parents aren’t overloaded with information while surfing the internet, but can have relevant, useful, NHS approved advice sent directly to their phones and inboxes.

“I also welcome the other measures introduced by the Government this week which will provide real help to parents and families. A named midwife for women during their pregnancy will ensure a single point of contact and consistency of care, whilst greater support for those mothers who suffer post natal depression will mean that these women have the access to the help that they need.”
