BROMHAM'S Libby Seed had every reason to be delighted with her performance in the 2012 Charles Owen British Pony three-day event Championships, held at Brand Hall in Shropshire.

Only the best young riders, aged 16 or under, who have come through a series of FEI Pony Trials held at one day events earlier in the season, are invited to take part in the Championships, held annually.

Places on the shortlist for the GB team due to compete at the Pony European three-day event Championships, at Fontainebleau in France in late July were up for grabs.

Seed, a member of the Avon Vale Pony Club, was partnering her 11 year old pony Mr Vick.

The pair, who finished fourth and fifth in Pony Trials at Aldon and Oasby back in March, lay 13th after the opening dressage phase. They jumped right up the order with a fine clear just one second over the optimum time cross country on a tough, rain-soaked course.

Just one show jump down on the last day – without which third place was in sight – put them in a highly creditable fifth overall and they will now wait to see if they have done enough to make the European team short list.
