WILTSHIRE riders won four sections between them at the Salperton Park BE one day event near Northleach, where the last day of action had to be cancelled due to persistent rain.

Laura Collett, the Membury=based 22 year old who was recently named as one of the reserves for the GB Olympic team, topped an Open Intermediate section by a distance.

This was on her Great Britain team reserve horse Rayef who led from the opening dressage phase, where he achieved a great score of 21.4.

Australian Olympic team rider Andrew Hoy, based at Badbury, led an Advanced Intermediate4 (AI) section on Cheeky Calimbo and Lower Stanton St Quinton’s Kitty King also won at this level on Zidante, the only horse in his section to complete on their dressage score.

Tytherton Lucas rider Chris King picked up a second on his AI ride Idol Hero, who finished just a mark behind Kitty.

“I was over the moon with Idol Hero’s dressage mark of 28.5 and he did himself proud with clear show jumping and cross country rounds,” said Lucas.

“My up and coming horse Billy Bounce finished fourth in his very first Intermediate run at Salperton.

"Sadly we had the last pole show jumping or he would have been second as well. It was a super event, with a fantastic new cross country course.”

Paul Tapner led an Intermediate section on Indian Mill, with Purton-based Neil Spratt in third on Fernhill Quality Street, who produced the quickest cross country round in the section.
