It will be another historical moment for Wiltshire next week when the Olympic flame returns to the county.

On July 11 it will travel through Ludgershall, Tidworth, Amesbury, The Winterbournes and then into Salisbury’s Hudson’s Field to be part of the Wiltshire 2012 Festival of Celebration.

On July 12 it will travel out of Salisbury, leaving from the Cathedral, and taking the route to Wilton, Barford St Martin, Fovant and then finally Ludwell, before it enters Dorset on its way to Weymouth.

The Wiltshire 2012 Festival of Celebration will mark the historic occasion at Salisbury’s Hudson’s Field on July 11.

The free festival, which will be open to all from 1pm until 10pm, features a number of well known acts including chart topper Wretch 32, Britain’s Got Talent dance duo Twist and Pulse and the internationally acclaimed Bjorn Again.

There will also be a host of local acts appearing from Trowbridge, Calne, Royal Wootton Bassett, Salisbury and Westbury, as well as a fun fair, arts and crafts, business exhibitors, local producers and a range of activities throughout the day for all the family.

Council leader Jane Scott said: "Next week is going to be a special time for Wiltshire.

"We are thrilled the torch is coming back to the county and the festival at Hudson’s Field will be a fitting celebration to mark this unique occasion.

"These events are bringing communities together, showcasing what Wiltshire has to offer and reinvigorating our local economy.

"We know that when the torch visited the west and north of the county in May more than 100,000 people lined the streets to celebrate and mark its arrival and that there was a huge impact on the local economy, with businesses stating a big increase in trade.

"The festival will focus on business, community and entertainment and we estimate that up to 30,000 people will visit this site in Salisbury to see a full and vibrant programme of events and entertainment.

"This will be a unique two days in Wiltshire’s history and I am looking forward to seeing our local communities celebrate and come together and really show what makes them so special."
