Local businesses are celebrating after showcasingtheir products and services at the Wiltshire 2012 Festival of Celebration held last week.

The festival, last Wednesday at Hudson’s Field in Salisbury, saw 30,000 people celebrating the Olympic Torch returning to Wiltshire.

The day started with a business breakfast for more than 100 businesses based throughout the county.

As well as the opportunity to network, they heard an inspirational talk from two-time Olympic medallist Nick Gillingham.

Mr Gillingham talked about his successful swimming career and what it meant to him to travel the world and compete at the highest level.

The future of British sport was also represented as two Lloyds TSB Local Heroes talked about their hopes and ambitions.

David Knott, who plays goalball will represent Great Britain in this summer’s Paralympics and Phoebe Dowson’s aim is to make the transition into a senior international athlete.

There was also a speech from Paul Johnson, chairman of the Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership who talked about the partnership and its impact on the Wiltshire economy.

After the breakfast more than 30 businesses set up stalls in the business marquee promoting a variety of services to the public including childcare, fitness, recruitment, photography, cleaning and accommodation.

Cabinet member for economic development Fleur de Rhe-Philipe said: "It was excellent to see local business owners talking to each other and learning from each other.

"The turnout was fantastic with local companies promoting their services and produce to the thousands of people who attended."
