Saturday and Sunday Visitors to towns and villages across West and North Wiltshire are in for a treat with many events taking place to mark this year’s Heritage Open Days.
The annual festival celebrates England’s architecture and culture by offering free access to places that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.
In Corsham, guided walks through the town start at the car park near the church and Corsham Court at 2pm today and tomorrow, and St Bartholomew’s Church will be offering a guided tour at 5pm tomorrow.
Corsham’s rarely open Hartham Estate Chapel, designed by P.C. Harwick in 1862, will be welcoming the public between 2-4.30pm on Sunday.
In Box, the medieval Church of St Christopher will be open to visitors between 2.30-4.30pm tomorrow and Sunday.
Parts of Lacock Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum will also be welcoming the public between 10am and 5.30pm tomorrow and Sunday.
In Bradford on Avon, American author Nancy Wilson will be holding a talk about former resident Mrs Victor Bruce, in Priory Steps, Newtown, between 1-5pm tomorrow and Sunday to launch her book about the first female winner of the Monte Carlo Rally.
In Trowbridge the Blind House, the Town Hall, The Masonic Hall on Yerbury Street and four of the town’s churches are taking part.
