Two housing schemes get the go-ahead in Calne

Planning permission for two major housing developments in Calne has been granted on appeal, it was announced today.

Hills UK Ltd has been given the go-ahead to build up to 200 homes on land off Oxford Road, while Mr D Lohfink was given the green light for 154 homes on land off Silver Street.

Both appeals were held at the same time in July because both centred around Wiltshire Council’s five year policy on housing.

In his conclusion, planning inspector John Papworth said the proposals were in line with the framwork on the presumption in favour of sustainable development.

He said: “There is no adverse impact that significantly and demonstrably outweighs the benefits of providing housing and in particular affordable housing.”
