Generous donors helped swell the proceeds of a coffee morning held in Rushall in memory of six-year-old Finlay Connor, who was killed by a school bus 18 months ago.

Monday’s event raised £400 – two and a half times what his mother Niki had hoped to raise for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, as part of National Air Ambulance Week. Mrs Connor said: “I was thinking we would raise perhaps £150, especially as it was quite quiet and there was torrential rain.

“We did not have set prices and asked for donations instead and people were very generous. They had their coffee and put notes into the collection. We were all thrilled at the result.”

Mrs Connor and husband Greg, through the Finlay Foundation they set up in memory of their son, have helped the air ambulance appeal on numerous occasions.

Finlay was flown to Great Western Hospital in the Wiltshire Air Ambulance after the tragedy outside his school at Woodborough on March 14 last year.
