Events will be held at five of Dorothy House Hospice Care’s shops to support the nationwide Hospice Care Week.

The awareness drive, organised by Help The Hospices, runs from Monday until October 14.

Winsley-based Dorothy House, which supports people with life-threatening illness, will have activities at its shops in Melksham, Chippenham, Warminster, Shepton Mallet and Bath.

Chief executive Sarah Whitfield said: “The aim of this week is to demonstrate that hospice care is more than just a building and, with the majority of our work taking place away from our hospice in Winsley, we are keen to get out into the community to promote the wide scope of the work we do.

Dorothy House fund-raisers will visit the Melk-sham furniture shop, in Church Street, between 10.30am-noon on Monday, with Mrs Whitfield there between 10.30am-12.30pm on Tuesday. Outreach staff will be in Melksham between 10am-noon on Friday.

The family support team will be at the hospice’s Warminster shop, in Three Horseshoes Walk, between 2-4pm on Tuesday. Physiotherapy staff are due to call in there between 10am-noon on Wednesday and the fundraising team’s time is from 9.30-11.30am on Thursday.

Physiotherapy staff will be visting the charity’s Chippenham furniture store, in The Bridge, between 2-4pm on Monday.

The fundraising team will be there between 2-4pm on Wednesday and Mrs Whitfield will be at the shop between 3-5pm on Thursday.
