A new scheme is being launched by Wiltshire Council to help sports clubs take advantage of widespread interest in keeping fit following the London 2012 Olympics.
On Your Marks, Get Set, Go! will help clubs to access additional funding, as well as providing training for new coaches, with the support of Wiltshire and Swindon Sports Partnership.
Councillor Jerry Kunkler, cabinet member for leisure, said: “This has been a fantastic year for sport in our country, and here in Wiltshire we want to keep that spirit alive by ensuring people can access the very best sporting and coaching facilities.
“We recognise the invaluable work of local sports clubs in delivering participation opportunities within our communities.
“Without these clubs, sports involvement within the county would be greatly reduced and it’s important to remember that much of this work is done by proactive volunteers.
“We want to support both clubs and individuals in order to ensure they are in a healthy position to cope with increased demand, and that they are able to provide high quality services to their communities for years to come.”
