Police have this afternoon identified the dog walker who it is believed was trampled to death by cows in a Chippenham field this morning as 68-year-old Sandra Wiltshire, who lived in the town.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that officers were called to assist paramedics in a field near to Riverside Drive, Chippenham shortly before 9am this morning. On arrival the body of a lady was found.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death at this stage and an investigation will be commenced on behalf of HM Coroner for Wiltshire.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death but at this point the injuries appear to be consistent with the lady having been trampled by a cow(s).”
