A close-fought football match organised as a memorial for a Westbury police officer who died in 2009 has raised £300 for charity.
For the fourth year in a row the Force’s E division and armed response group teams competed in memory of PC Mike Johnson, who collapsed while jogging to work, aged 46.
Held at Westbury Town Football Club on September 30, the game saw E division lead until the last 20 minutes, when two goals from the armed response group saw them to a fourth victory.
PC Gary Treherne said: “Both teams had a full complement of players and even subs, which is amazing and shows how popular Micky was. We raised around £300 to be spilt equally between Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Dilton Marsh Primary School, who have a memorial garden for Mick.”
