Box charity Jamie’s Farm held an open day on Saturday that allowed the public to find out about the work it carries out to help vulnerable children.
Around 200 visitors went to Hill House Farm, in Ditteridge, which offers children aged between eight and 16 a chance to swap the inner city life for a week on the farm.
Visitors had the opportunity to tour the grounds, meet the farm’s animals and talk to some of the children who have benefited from their time at Jamie’s Farm.
Former teacher Jamie Feilden, who set up the charity in 2008, said: “It was a brilliant event, we had over 200 people drop by and it was probably the best event we’ve held.”
During their stay, the children referred to the farm by their schools, improve their self-esteem in a family environment.
