A TWO-vehicle accident saw an Old Town street closed for several hours yesterday morning.
The incident involved a red Ford Fiesta and a blue Ford Maverick, which collided at the junction of Goddard Avenue and Westlecot Road.
Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Great Western Ambulance service all attended the incident, which left a female driver needing medical treatment.
The number 22 bus service was also diverted via Bath Road as a result of the temporary road closure.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “Wiltshire Police received a call at 9.18am this morning to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.
“The RTC involved a red Ford Fiesta and a blue Ford Maverick.
“The female driver of the Fiesta did not require hospital treatment but the female driver of the Maverick was taken to the Great Western Hospital as a precautionary measure.
“The road was re-opened fully at 11.15am.”
Stephen Thomas, 46, of Old Town, was walking past shortly after the accident.
He said “I did not see the accident but it looks serious from the condition of the cars.
“I hope everyone involved is okay and it is lucky that it has not happened by the school.”
