Paralympic swimmer Stephanie Millward visited St Nicholas School in Chippenham on Monday to speak to youngsters about the Games.

The Corsham athlete, who won five medals this summer, talked to the school’s 69 pupils with severe or complex learning disabilities at an assembly, before joining them for photos.

She took along her medals and an Olympic Torch, and later enjoyed a tour of the school, taking in the new hydrotherapy pool. School fundraising manager Beverley Crone said: “It was great to have Stephanie along, the children loved it, and the teachers loved it as well.

“It is good for the children to have a visit from someone like Stephanie and see how people can achieve special things.

“They love having visitors and enjoyed trying on the medals and holding the torch. Stephanie seemed impressed with our hydrotherapy pool. It has made a big difference for us as many of our students are in wheelchairs, but with the pool we can get them all mobile.”
