Budding writers at Clarendon College were thrilled to receive a visit from Caroline Lawrence, author of the bestselling Roman Mysteries novels, last Friday.
The author delivered an hour-long talk about her internationally successful children’s fiction to Year 7 students from the College and Year 5 and 6 students from Holbrook Primary School. They will have the chance to use their new knowledge in a creative writing competition, with prizes including five novels from the Roman Mysteries series.
At the end of the talk, students asked, before taking the opportunity to have their copies of her novels signed.
Teacher Mike Griffiths said: “The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit; we could see many of our budding writers hurriedly scribbling down the writing tips on offer. Hopefully this visit will inspire some top-quality creative writing as students begin their studies of ancient Rome in English and humanities next term."
