A collection of empty bottles has made nearly £3,000 at a Chippenham auction on Saturday.
The extensive and rare collection of 18th century green glass bottles went under the hammer at The Chippenham Auction Rooms.
The 18 lots of glass had come in from a private source and included mallet and onion shapes including one that was shaped like a house. There were various examples including wine and gin bottles and they made a combined total of £2,959.42.
“It was an incredible sale,” said auctioneer Gordon Brockman. “People came from far and wide to see these and I am not at all surprised by what they went for and could have gone for more.”
