Corsham Town Council is close to agreeing a deal to ensure at least 40 car parking spaces at the town’s new campus will be free to the public.

It is hoped the draft agreement, being discussed as part of the £1 sale of required land at Springfield Recreation Ground from the town council to Wiltshire Council, will ensure all 120 parking spaces at the campus in Beechfield Road will be allowed without charge.

During Monday’s Corsham Town Council meeting, town councillors also discussed Wiltshire Council’s request to pick two community events in Corsham where free parking would be allowed in public car parks.

They struggled to pick two from three big events next year, which are: Paralympian Stephanie Millward’s freedom of the town event on March 2, Corsham Sci-Fi on April 27 and Armed Forces Day on June 29.

Mr Martin said he would contact Wiltshire Council asking for concessions to be provided for all three events.
