TROWBRIDGE pilots John Jackson and Paula Walker underlined their improvement as they claimed two more top 10 finishes in the FIBT Bobsleigh World Cup finish in Utah.

Paxcroft Mead's Jackson, who finished 10th in the opening round of the four-man series at Lake Placid last week, bettered that in the two-man event at Park City with brakeman John Baines, finishing ninth on Friday night.

The duo had suffered a disappointing opening round in Lake Placid, where they finished 23rd, but enjoyed a superb opening run tonight, their 48.74 enough to see them lying in third place at the halfway stage.

They were unable to replicate that in the second run, clocking 48.94 as they slipped down the field.

But he said on Twitter: "What an amazing race today. A 9th place finish, with the top 10 covered by less than .4 of a second. Bobsleigh at its best.''

Jackson followed up in the four-man event as he and his team finished a superb sixth on Saturday night.

Meanwhile Walker, who finished sixth in the opening round of the women's two-man series at Lake Placid last week, claimed ninth at Park City with brakewoman Gillian Cooke on Friday.

The duo were seventh after a first run of 49.85 seconds, but slipped back a couple of spots with a slower second outing of 50.38.

Walker said on Twitter: "Today wasn't so great but this is the sport, you make a mistake and you pay.

"Last year I would have grabbed 9th with two hands & smiled. It just shows how far GB have come.''
