A retiring collection after Dauntsey’s School’s Remembrance Day concert last Wednesday evening raised almost £2,000 for the school’s charities.
Although the concert in the Memorial Hall was free, pupils stood outside the hall afterwards with collection plates. Many of those attending dropped £20 and £10 notes into the collection, resulting in the generous result.
Head of music Ben Gudgeon described the total as “remarkable”.
The school is collecting funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Children’s Chance, which operates Hugo’s Fund, set up in memory of 12-year-old Hugo Halkes, a Dauntsey’s pupil who died following a road accident in 2007.
