DEVIZES teenager Rory Collins is this week at home nursing a seriously broken jaw after he was attacked in a residential street in the early hours of Sunday.
Mr Collins, 18, a former pupil of Devizes School, is reported to have been attacked by three men, one wielding a samurai sword and another a baseball bat.
The young man had his jaw broken in three places and had to have steel plates inserted at hospital. His family did not want to comment at the time of going to press.
Police believe that the incident in West View Crescent at 5am on Sunday followed an earlier one in the Market Place.
Two men have been arrested and released on police bail pending more inquiries. A third man is still being sought.
Insp Matt Armstrong, of Devizes police, said: “We want to emphasise that the four people involved were all known to each other and can reassure members of the public this was not a random incident.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police via 101 or to give details in confidence through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
