BOWLS: Westlecot still in with Wessex League chance
6:00am Saturday 5th January 2013 in Latest News
WESTLECOT men go into the new year handily placed in the east region of the Wessex League.
Their last match was in early November when they led the table, but since have had a bye and their match against West Berks in December was moved to the beginning of February.
A lack of activity has seen them drop down in the league table to joint third spot but still only eight points behind Carterton and five behind West Berks but with a game in hand.
They have 39 points, the same as Chipping Norton, but with two games in hand over them.
Tomorrow Westlecot, the only unbeaten side in the east section, swing back into action when they face bottom club Rivermead (Reading).
Several of their more experienced players are unavailable such as Neil Smith and Ian Jefferies.
