SWINDON TOWN: Swindon extend Martin loan

Chris Martin will remain at Swindon Town for another four weeks Chris Martin will remain at Swindon Town for another four weeks

SWINDON Town have extended the loan stay of Norwich striker Chris Martin at the County Ground.

The forward, who has yet to score in eight appearances for the Robins, will now remain in Wiltshire for another 28 days.

Martin will be available for Town up to and including the televised trip to Crawley Town on Saturday, February 2.

Town manager Paolo Di Canio is still hoping to extend Danny Hollands' loan spell with Swindon, but the future of John Bostock is unclear.

Very pleased that we have secured Martin but Hollands is the one I am looking for, an important part of the jig saw. We play better with him.

Priority Hollands and Martin.

Gives more time to off-load further wages.

Bostock would be a "nice to have."

For me Martin was the least important of the loan players, would have had Hollands and Ward as the top priority...

Priority Hollands.

Seems like we're scraping it bit by bit - a month here, a few weeks there.

It would be nice if Phil Spencer took a cue from Paolo and worked overtime, and at no commission, to find deals for other players we are looking to let go. Maybe he is.

I think we will get our loans for a month because of our lack of funds then spend the rest of the transfer window generating enough money to keep them here until the end of the season at least !

With ward and Martin already in the bag the signing of Hollands would really give us a great shot at the title. Martin will get a hatful once he gets one he looked pretty sharp Saturday and lets face what player would not have confidence playing in this team

Looks like the board has got some small change from there back pockets.
Well done board holland nearly here too.

Martin's only here for 28 more days - and there's more than four months of the season to go!

I wonder if that's Paolo's £30k gone??

We really could do with freeing up more substantial wages savings to get both until the end of the season

I think these deals are only in place to allow the club more time to sort out longer term deals, both players seem to be very happy here and want to stay and I would be amazed if the club do not seal deals until the end of the season for both before the end of January . The offloading of benson ,cox and Rooney would pay for this and bostock plus maybe one other new player

Excellent news. Martin's movement and first touch is excellent and we will soon se the benefits of him starting saturday. He has been getting sharper each week and its makes a bit of a joke of it that he has become fitter and sharper with us then a premier league team where he looked a big bulky a few weeks ago. He is leaner, sharper and faster and we are going to see him explode and hopefully at Bournemouth on saturday.
Really glad weve got him a bit longer.

Leon Clarke signed on perm deal for Coventry.

Had more clubs than Steve Claridge !

Where is the next loan deal going to take him :-)

Totally agree with this post.

Good news for us, great news for Martin! - he looks so much sharper under Paolo. He looked pretty out of shape when he started for us.

28 days is a start!..not long before more negotiations needed!..perhaps PDC only spent 5k of his 30k!
Hollands is the important one!..perhaps SWP can sacrifice some of his hard earnt part time wages to help out!

With you there Lovesey seen precious little to impress me from Martin whereas Hollands impresses more game by game him and Ferry are turning in great performances.

Still well worth putting something in 'the bucket' cos you don't know when we'll be needing it. My guess is that it's not too far away!
