JORDAN Roberts could make his long-awaited first appearance for Supermarine tonight as the South Marston side host Abingdon in Division One South & West.

The Calne striker has been signed on at Marine since early in the season but has been reluctant to commit to the Swindon club due to loyalties at Bremhill View.

However, it has now been agreed that Roberts will divide his time between both Southern League and Western League level, and he will go into the squad for this evening’s game.

Marine boss Dave Webb said: “Jordan is still registered with Calne and given our hectic schedule of games and talking to Jeff Roberts (father and Calne manager), we will manage it so that he plays some games for us and some for them, and we’ll see how it goes.

“We’re hoping long-term that we’ll be able to secure him because he has all the qualities to play at this level as a minimum.

“He’s a really exciting young player who just needs an opportunity and over the next couple of months he will certainly be given that.”

Marine are missing Josh Parsons (pulled muscle), Jamie Prictor (hamstring) and Dan Wallington (suspected sporting hernia) for the clash with Abingdon, a side who have lost four games in a row.

Webb has brought his squad up to the full complement of 16 by drafting in New College pair Ryan Stanners and Alex Swatridge.

Stanners is a centre forward who scored for New College in the Hellenic League at the weekend, while keeper Swatridge will act as cover for regular stopper Kent Kauppinen.

Elsewhere tonight, Highworth visit Cheltenham in the Floodlit Cup third round and Shrivenham travel to Aylesbury in the quarter-final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy.

Yesterday evening Cirencester lost 3-1 at Yate in Southern League Division One South & West despite a goal from Sam Collier.

The former Wootton Bassett striker grabbed a consolation five minutes from time.

Cricklade handed out a 4-0 Hellenic League thumping to hosts Carterton in Division One West.

Malmesbury’s Supplementary Cup second-round clash with Maidenhead reserves was postponed.
