A LANDLADY is hoping to breathe new life into a pub after taking over the reins.
Sarah Moon took over the Patriot’s Arms, in Chiseldon, this month and is hoping to turn the pub around after it lost favour with locals.
The 34-year-old, who has been working in hospitality since she was 18, was appointed as manager at the end of October.
When the landlords said that they were not going to renew the tenancy, Sarah was asked to stand in but she decided to take the plunge and along with business partner Stephen Webb, has taken on the pub outright. Stephen is an experienced chef and the pair are hoping to rejuvenate the restaurant side of the pub.
Sarah said: “I love it here so I thought it would be a good challenge.
“Stephen and I are going offer great food that won’t be too expensive. We are going to keep the live bands and event nights and try and bring the village community together.
“One example of how we are going to do that is a coffee and craft morning which brings in a cross section of the community.”
The pub has been closed for the last 10 days for refurbishment but will be open tonight at 6pm with a night of live music.
The pub also has two guest rooms which have been completely refurbished and they will be holding a sample menu tasting next month to show off the restaurant.
Sarah said she was hoping to win locals back.
She said: “They are really excited, we are already getting bookings for tables in the restaurant.
“I want people to realise that we are here to turn it around.
“We aim to be a really friendly pub with a warm welcome.”
To book tables for the restaurant call 01793 740 331 and visit the pubs Facebook page Patriot’s Arms for more details of upcoming events.
