Artists’ bursary in memory of sculptor

A bursary for professional artists living in Wiltshire is being offered in memory of sculptor Althea Wynne, who died in a car crash a year ago.

Applications are being invited for the £1,000 bursary funded by the organisation Friends of the Garden following their latest exhibition at Avebury Manor, in association with Ms Wynne’s family and Wiltshire Council.

It is open to professional artists working in sculpture and other 3D forms, except jewellery, and provides for exhibitions by short-listed artists at the Young Gallery in Salisbury and Pound Arts Centre, Corsham.

Applications close on April 30 and full details are available from Lesley Andrews on (01672) 540180.

Ms Wynne, 75, and her husband Anthony Barrington-Brown died in a car crash on the A36 on January 24 last year.

She was a highly regarded sculptor whose work was in demand throughout the country.
