Budding young archaeologists got a fun introduction to the subject when they went along to the monthly club run by Wiltshire Heritage Museum on Saturday.
Young WANHS is the youth group set up by the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society (WANHS), which owns and runs the museum.
The club meets on the second Saturday of each month and, to start the year, the young members were given a crash course in how archaeologists approach a new dig.
They were shown how each artefact is meticulously measured, cleaned and removed from its place in the earth and the site is identified and dated. They also had some hands-on fun with various crafts.
