A leading Bristol University scientist has been helping pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Devizes to understand their brains.
Experimental psychologist Dr David Turk spent last Friday morning with a class of eight and nine-year-olds, talking to them about how their brains affect everything they do and setting them brain games and challenges.
The Year 4 pupils are studying the brain as part of a project to understand how they learn and how their emotions affect their brain. They began by making their own ‘brain caps’ and looking at models of the brain.
The pupils gave the lesson ten out of ten and headteacher Sheila Jones said: “This was about helping the children to understand how negative and positive emotions affect the brain.
“The children have been incredibly excited about having a top scientist in to help them.”
