Richard Newton, charged by police with the murder of his wife, Suzanne Newton, will appear at Bristol Crown Court tomorrow morning.

Newton, 51, of Barnes Wallis Close, Bowerhill, appeared before magistrates in Salisbury this morning and has been remanded in custody to appear at Bristol in the morning.

Mrs Newton, 45, who worked for a recruitment agency in Calne, was found dead at their Melksham home on Sunday morning.

Mr Newton was arrested on Monday in Dulverton, Devon, after his blue Volkswagen Polo was found abandoned at Brendon Common, Exmoor.

He was initially taken to hospital in Taunton where he spent the night under police guard, but was brought to Melksham police station for questioning on Tuesday and later charged with her murder.
