WOOTTON Bassett Road has reopened - four hours after a lorry struck the bridge and became wedged under it.
The 32-tonne vehicle, which struck the bridge and became wedged at 9.30am.
It was removed just before noon, but it's load was still insecure so police kept the road closed until it was stable enough to be moved.
Police and Network Rail were on the scene this morning trying to resolve the problem. The incident caused traffic chaos with tailbacks on both sides of the bridge.
The lorry struck the bridge's protection beam, so no damage was done to the train tracks allowing trains to run as scheduled.
