FOOTBALL: Bottom club Purton Reserves took the honours in the Wilts Premier Division when they chalked up their first league victory of the season at the 12th attempt, beating visitors Blueprint Chiseldon 2-0.
Purton boss Tony Phillips said he was delighted for his side who battled well and deserved their success.
He added: "The lads are really pleased with the win. We have been playing quite well in recent weeks and not getting the rub of the green so lets hope we can build on the result and start climbing the table."
After a goalless first half, Purton took the lead when a long free-kick out of their own half fell to Gavin Allen who controlled the ball well before netting from 10 yards out.
The visitors then piled forward looking for an equaliser but were caught on the break in the closing stages, John Horgan threading a good ball through for Adam Woolford who went past two defenders before beating the keeper with a good strike to ensure victory for the Red House side.
Blueprint boss Chokri Kartit was not too pleased with his side and said that Purton thoroughly deserved their victory.
He went on to say: "It was more than a disappointing performance - it was disgusting. Some of the players think they are better than they are and there will be plenty of changes made for next week's game."
New College put the brakes on Calne Town's recent good run, beating the visitors 7-0.
"It was one of those days when everything went right," said College boss Mark Teasdale.
"We were the better team and it was also important to keep a clean sheet following our most recent game at Melksham where we scored six and conceded five."
Two goals up at the break from Tom Caddan, College were awarded a penalty soon after the start of the second half which was converted by Bradley Gill.
Caddan then completed his hat-trick with a well taken goal with Ryan Childs - Luke Watkins and Farrell Copp adding further goals.
