Widow rallies support in Pewsey for Prospect Hospice

A Pewsey woman whose husband was cared for at Prospect Hospice will be sharing her experience at an information evening on Wednesday in a plea to generate more support for the charity within the village.
Sue Grigg, whose husband John spent his final days at the hospice, is urging the people of Pewsey to form a support group, offering the opportunity to fundraise for the charity which last year cared for 29 people.
Mrs Grigg said: “Prospect Hospice is well known in Pewsey because it has a well-supported shop but, often, people haven’t visited the hospice until they know someone in there.
“When they go there they have a different feeling to when they leave because they see what a difference it makes.
“I think Pewsey is a good place to raise awareness of the hospice and what it does.”
Wednesday’s meeting is the latest in a series of events put on by the local hospice to outline the range of support available to people seeking the hospice’s help, and highlight the need for funding to continue to deliver its services.
The ultimate goal is to establish a regular support group within Pewsey.
Amy Francombe, Prospect Hospice’s community fundraiser, said: “Local support groups within villages are an opportunity for people to come together to raise funds for us in whichever way suits them best, and to make new friends while raising money for a very worthy cause.
“I’ll be there to confirm the strong level of support we will provide for the new group.”
Existing support groups in other villages currently support the local hospice with events such as monthly coffee mornings, barn dances, table top sales and Christmas and summer fairs.
Prospect’s Pewsey information evening starts at 6.30pm on Wednesday at the Bouverie Hall in the village.
