The case against a Warmin-ster man accused of sexually assaulting a woman has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Paul Crawford, 30, of Masefield Road, was due to face trial at Swindon Crown Court in April, after pleading not guilty to the charge.
He was accused of carrying out a sexual assault on March 19, last year.
Colin Meeke, prosecuting, said: “The Crown wrote to the defence and the court, indicating its intention to offer no evidence in this, it having been considered again by counsel due to prosecute it at trial.”
Judge Douglas Field entered a formal not guilty verdict at the court.
That means the case against Crawford, who was not in the court to hear the ruling, is now at an end.
The judge also ordered that the defendant’s legal costs should be met out of central funds.
