A MOTORIST is appealing for the driver who skidded into her parked car during the snow last week to come forward.

Emily Edwards, 23, was getting ready for work at her home in Haydon End on Friday, January 25, when a man driving a dark coloured people carrier or 4x4 smashed into the passenger door of her Toyota Yaris.

Emily, who is saving money for her wedding later this year, is appealing for the driver to come forward.

“I was drying my hair when I heard a bang outside. It was about 8.15am. I looked out the window and saw a people carrier or 4x4 and a guy getting out. He looked at the cars and the damage,” said Emily.

“I got my coat on and ran downstairs but by the time I got there he had driven off. You could see the car tracks around the corner where they had gone from one side of the road to the other.

“I have looked out for the car since but I haven’t seen it yet.”

The incident has caused about £1,500 worth of damage to Emily’s 2011 Toyota Yaris, which Emily bought for £13,000.

“It was gutting when I saw it. I think the other car will have been damaged too. My passenger door is entirely crumpled, all the way from the bottom to the top, and the wheel arch is crumpled too,” she said.

“I imagine the other car must have fairly significant damage too.

“Where we live is a road only local residents would drive through. It’s not a main road so I imagine they live locally,” she said.

Emily, who uses her car every day to get from Maybold Crescent to Marlborough, said the man was in his 30s and had dark hair.

She is hoping other people may have witnessed the incident.

She has contacted police and her insurance company.

“I don’t normally leave my car there. We have got a drive but I left it on the side of the road so it would be easy for me to go to work in the morning,” she said.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman confirmed they were investigating.
