SPEEDWAY prodigy Anders Rowe is distraught after thieves took his customised practice motorbike in an over-night raid.

The 10-year-old, who is the Elite League-winning Swindon Robins’ official mascot, awoke with his family on Monday to find an outbuilding at their Fresh-brook home ransacked and the pit bike, along with six bicycles, gone.

The Stomp Juicebox 125cc motorbike, with a distinctive yellow and black saddleand Rockstar graphics, was taken along with Anders’ specialist downhill BMX and Felt-branded green and black mountain bike.

His dad Del, 40, a mechanic, believes opportunist thieves were behind the break-in, which is thought to have been be around 3am on Monday.

Anders has been out scouring the neighbourhood, as well as internet auction sites, for the bikes.

“He’s heartbroken,” Del said.

“Speedway is his life and he’s been out walking around looking for it in the rain and wind as soon as he gets home from school.

“He saved up for it from money he got cleaning one of the riders bikes last year.

“We used the pit bike to train indoors at Hullaving-ton over the winter while the weather is bad just to keep getting the laps in so he can improve – he’s a promising rider.

“It’s not just the practice bike, though – his new BMX, which he got for Christmas, has gone too.

“He hardly got a chance to ride it with the weather.

“They took the rest of our bicycles as well so in all it had to be around £3,000 worth.

“I think it was just kids and I expect they’ll try and sell them on now.

“One of the push bikes was abandoned in a hedge which we found when we went out on Monday.

“We could follow the tracks as the pit bike is a chunky thing and where the garden is all muddy there were some perfect footprints.

“Anders even said ‘that’s a Nike Air Max trainer, Dad’.”

The family only moved to Swindon in the past year and Del said this was the first trouble they had experienced.

He said he believed the youngsters were local to the area and he appealed for anyone with information about the theft to help track the bikes down.

He said: “It’s frustrating because I’ve worked hard all my life to give my kids the best and then somebody comes and just takes it away.

“If they wanted to borrow a bike I would have said yes.

“But to take someobody else’s property is the lowest you can get.”

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 7.52am to reports of a burglary, where unknown suspects entered a locked summer house and stole push bikes and a pit bike. Inquiries are ongoing.”
