Police were waiting to arrest the bus driver in Melksham Market Place
A bus driver was arrested for drink-driving on Thursday after a member of the public reported seeing him drinking on duty.
Police received reports of the driver of the 2.40pm Faresaver bus from Frome to Chippenham swigging from a can of extra strong lager and urinating against the side of the vehicle.
Police were waiting at Market Place in Melksham with a relief driver and a supervisor from the bus company. The driver was breathalysed and arrested after being found to have 42mg/100ml of alcohol on his breath, above the 35mg/100ml limit.
The replacement driver took over the bus and continued on to Chippenham.
A spokesperson from Faresaver was approached for comment, but refused to confirm whether the driver had been suspended.

Secondly, I do wish the press would get their drink drive facts straight, the legal limit for alcohol in blood is 80mg in 100ml of blood, as it has been for many years; however, if as I suspect they are talking about a breath test, then it is indeed 35microgrammes per 100ml of breath (micro is not designated by the use of a 'm' prefix)

To answer Augustus : Yes it would appear you are correct and the press are wrong as is sadly so often the case.
To answer 1984 : The driver is of course innocent until proven guilty and no doubt the full details of any prosecution will come out in due course.

If "approached for comment" means asking "have you suspended the driver" I'm not surprised there was a refusal to confirm.
