Staff at Malmesbury’s Co-operative food store are rocking round the clock for their Charity of the Year, Carers Trust.

Store staff chose the rock theme to launch their fancy dress fundraising efforts for the charity, which formed last year when The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and Crossroads Care merged.

Money raised will help the charity provide advice and support for 14 to 25-year-olds facing the challenges of caring.

Store manager Richard Fillis said: “People in Malmesbury are very generous and when it is a good cause, people recognise and support it.

“We didn’t know very much about the charity, but the closest branch is Swindon and we’ve been talking to them and got an idea of what they do.

“We’ve got a store target of over £5,000, but it’s very important in this climate to get their name out there as well.”

About £130 was raised on the day, bringing the store’s total to more than £750 following a raffle earlier in the month.
