The A36 near Warminster was closed for seven hours last night after a 50-year-old man was killed in a collision with another car just after 5pm last night.
The man, from Rode, suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.
The man's car was in collision with a car driven by a 22-year-old from Melksham who was driving towards the Granada Services.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident. The road was closed while they carried out investigations into the crash.
The road was re-opened this morning.
