Children who took part in the Hilarious Books Experience at Calne Community Hub last week were inspired by a character with magical super powers.
The project, which aims to show children the fun side of reading, is run by former youth worker Lesley Taylor and is supported by the Calne Area Board.
The eight to 11-year-olds are taking part in a free five-week course full of drama and creative activities.
For their first session they choose a book to read together. Shrunk!, by Fleur Hitchcock, from Bradford on Avon, was the winner.
It tells the story of an 11-year-old who discovers he has the power to shrink things and accidentally shrinks the school bully and the planet Jupiter.
Ms Taylor contacted Ms Hitchcock with the news.
She said: “I told her on Twitter that they had chosen the book and she was very pleased. They liked the whole idea of this crazy power that he had and that powers always go wrong in these funny stories.”
There will be another Hilarious Books Experience starting on February 25 for 11 to 14-year-olds.
