Cooking up funds to keep church running

A new cookbook will help to raise money for ongoing maintenance at St Laurence’s Church, Hilmarton.
The 12th century church has grade I listed building status and its congregation raises funds to heat and repair the building by holding events through the year.
Thickthorn resident and church member Sally Fox, who will collate the book, hopes to gather around 50 recipes from villagers. She said: “There are some good cooks in the village and when we ask for contributions to things like cake stalls we get some really terrific food.”
