The Gazette is today launching its monthly search for Wiltshire’s best pub and we need our readers’ help.

We’re looking for a pub that goes the extra mile to make its customers feel welcome or makes a difference to its community. It may be one that provides great food or entertainment, or one that raises money for charity.

Don Jones, chairman of CAMRA in Devizes, is backing the competition.

He said: “The whole brewing and pub industry is going through some tough times at the moment. People have less money in their pockets, the price of raw materials and the cost of transport seem to climb daily.

“On top of that, successive governments have decided to impose tax increases above and beyond the level that most people would consider reasonable. So, against this background, we applaud the Gazette’s new feature.”

The winning pub each month will have received the most nominations. Here’s how to nominate.

Fill in the nomination form from your Gazette and Herald and send it to: Gazette & Herald Pub of the Month, 100 Victoria Road, Old Town Swindon, SN1 3BE.

Or email details to lfernandes@newswilts.co.uk or go to www.gazetteandhereld.co.uk/pub to complete the form online. The closing date for nominations is 10am on February 21. This month’s winner will be announced in the paper on February 28.

All nominated pubs must be within the Gazette & Herald circulation area. The winning pub will receive a Pub of the Month plaque presented by the Gazette & Herald. Usual Newsquest rules apply.
