Calne Music and Arts Festival will hold its AGM at Marden House on Thursday, February 28, at 7.30pm.

This year’s festival, set for Thursday, October 3, will include a wide range of music, from classical to jazz and rock, plus art and poetry.

During the meeting, to be followed by refreshments and live music, the festival committee is hoping to appoint three new members.

Extra volunteers are also being sought, including one to run the bar at Marden House and people to help shift staging.

Festival president Carole Browne said the programme was already being planned but this relied on a hard-working team of volunteers.

She said: “No-one is paid for anything – the whole thing is voluntary.

“We have a lot of classical concerts, including opera, and we’re having a quiz this year for the first time on music and arts.

“A lot of people just book that week off in their diary and go to everything.

“There’s always something interesting going on. Even if you just wander down in the evening, there’s a free concert at half past nine after the main event.”

Anyone wishing to support the festival can become a friend by paying an annual subscription.

Friends of the festival are offered reduced tickets and a special invitation to the opening evening.
