A new exhibition marking the region’s woollen cloth industry opens at Trowbridge Museum on Saturday from 9am-noon. The Rich and Rare display looks at working conditions, the machinery used and the story of working class hero Thomas Helliker, who worked at a mill in Semington.
He was hanged, in March 1803, at the age of 19 for his alleged role in machine breaking. The launch event will include refreshments for visitors and the display will be at the centre, in The Shires, until August 3. For more information call 01225 751339 or visit www.trowbridgemuseum.co.uk.
