JANUARY in Wiltshire was significantly wetter and colder, on average, than in the last 63 years.
An average monthly rainfall of 79.4ml was recorded in Steeple Ashton by amateur meteorologist Geoff Witts. This compared with a 63-year average of 72.3.
The warmest temperature reached was 12.9 degrees on Tuesday, January 29, with the lowest recorded at -4.5 degrees on January 15.
After a mild first week, a cold snap saw temperatures plummet, with 13 consecutive frosts and 100ml of snow recorded on January 17, when the gauge remained below zero all that day and the next.
The most rainfall recorded was on January 29, when a total of 10.9ml fell overnight.
